FIA WEC 2014 begins at Silverstone
It was a tough weekend for Bruni-Vilander
Yesterday officially began the FIA World Endurance Championship 2014 with the 6 hours of Silverstone, but the eighteen curves of the most famous circuit of Great Britain set a lot surprises aside for the defending team AF Corse. The Ferrari 458 number 51 of the magic duo Bruni-Vilander gained the pole position of the LMGTE Pro category a few days ago with a best lap of 1’59”125 but the pouring rain transformed this race in a true exam of physical and mental resistance. Firmness is everything in situations like that and firmness is what Bruni and Vilander gave us defending the third position for the most part of the race. The car stopped at the boxes to take advantage from a wet-tire change but after a few seconds the entrance of the Safety Car announced the end of the race half an hour in advance. This meant the loss of the all-desired third position for the Ferrari number 51. This first round is won by Porsche number 92 of Manthey team led by Makowiecki-Holzer-Liezt, preceding the team companions Pilet-Bergmeister-Tandy and Turner-Mücke. This means a stormy championship’s beginning for the Ferrari of the team AF Corse, but we like a bit of challenge. We’ve never been afraid of Porsche’s folts. We’ll have our payback the 3rd of May with the 6 hours of Spa Francorchamps. Stay tuned.
