Story of a FIAT 500 with a Lamborghini heart
Pakelo ft. Oemmedì meccanica
Take an old 1971 FIAT 500 frame and pair it with a 588 HP V12 Lamborghini Murciélago engine. Imagine this unsettled heart beating inside the body of a 2646 lb car and you will easily understand the reason why #PocketRocket is the nickname given to this special 500Lambo designed by Oemmedì Mechanics (Viterbo, Lazio – Italy). But let’s start from the beginning.
The adventure began in 2006 when Gianfranco Dini and his son Leonardo visited Bologna Motor Show (a famous Italian motor trade fair) and decided to enter the fascinating world of tuning. They already had the knowledge and the skills to succeed thanks to their long expertise in mechanics. With this encouraging premise they started testing and homologating unique tuned cars. The first model was a 1967 500 F powered by a 3.2L 6-cylinder Porsche Boxster engine, the second one was a 500-Ferrari with a 3.0L V8 engine, but the most eccentric and brilliant one is the 500 Lambo which was introduced to the public during 2012 Bologna Motor Show.
Pakelo met Gianfranco and Leonardo Dini that year. We immediately embraced Gianfranco and Leonardo’s project because we liked their passion for motors and big challenges. We supplied them with our best lubricants to meet the needs of their high performance tuned cars:
- Pakelo Krypton Racing SAE 10W60 (motor oil)
- Pakelo Global Gear DLS SAE 75W90 (gear oil)
- Pakelo Brake Fluid 404 (brake fluid)
- Pakelo Red Antifreeze Long Life (antifreeze)
With the 500Lambo we officially signed our collaboration with Oemmedì Mechanics. This little racing car possesses a Murciélago engine connected with a Lamborghini four wheel drive (4WD) with a 60/40 torque split. Even six-speed manual transmission, brake discs and calipers directly come from Lamborghini’s basket. The 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspensions, 18’’ Diablo-wheel rims and 335/30 rear tires + 245/35 front tires allow to keep the car steady on the ground even when it exceeds 187 mph.
It took 3.000 hours of handwork to create this little masterpiece. In order to sustain the size of a 588 HP Murciélago motor the rear of the car has been structurally changed. Since the Fiat 500 was too short and narrow for the Lamborghini drivetrain, wheelbase and track were significantly extended. The car became nearly twice as wide as the original Fiat. A tailored space frame chassis was fabricated. It incorporated a subframe cradle to mount the engine and transmission. Significant torsional reinforcement came from the steel bulkheads front and rear, as well as a steel floorpan, whose box-section transmission tunnel acted as the car’s backbone.
Brian Johnson (AC/DC) + 500Lambo
Would you like to know 500 Lambo performance rates? Ask to AC/DC frontman Brian Johnson that tested it last March during an episode of his ‘Cars that Rock’ program. From 30th April to the 3rd May Oemmedì 500 Lambo will be present at Tuning World Bodensee (Germany), one of the most important trade fair in the tuning field. This event gathers the best 1.000 tuned models around the world. Don’t miss the acknowledgements on our official Facebook fan page. Stay tuned!
