Franciacorta Historic 2015
Franciacorta Historic is an international classic regularity race that takes place every Spring in the North-East of Italy. The 8th edition occurred last 10-11th of April. 101 crews started the race in a beautiful scenario in the middle of vineyards, Franciacorta hills and lovely Iseo Lake. The weather was fine too. This edition has been planned in every single detail and the decision to give the road book to the crew (a 120km long itinerary) only one hour before the race contributed in creating a thrilling atmosphere and it put all the competitors to the same technical level.
Many invaluable cars took part to the race. Their appeal was not just a matter of economic value; it is all connected with their heritage and evocative past. Some cars set the rules of an entire age or social background imposing must-have styles. This edition of Franciacorta Historic reunited: a 1925 Bentley 3 l., a 1928 Chrysler 72, a Fiat Siata 508 S and a Fiat Balilla 508S Sport both of 1932, three Lancia Aprilia dated 1937, 1938 and 1940, a Fiat 508 C of 1937, two MG TB of 1938 and 1939. Looking at these evergreen cars it is immediately clear that they are the result of gifted artisans’s mastery in design and mechanics that changed motoring history. Every car that run in Franciacorta Historic showed a distinct personality and a strong identity which proved that brilliant minds in this field still exist. Restoring a vintage car is very similar to the restoration of an artwork and this custom should always be respected and supported.
The race bulletin of Saturday 11th April: the race began at 11:00 a.m. starting from “La Colombara Golf Resort”. Not every crew managed to finish the race due to technical difficulties along the route, but everyone put maximum effort in the 50 precision time trials. Here are the official results:
First place: Top Driver Belometti-Passi on a 1932 Fiat Siata 508 S.
Second place: Top Driver Canè-Galliani on a 1938 Lancia Aprilia.
Third place: Top Driver Salviato-Moglia on a 1971 Fiat 128 Rally.
