PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is an inhibited coolant based on MonoPropylene Glycol. The product is nitrites, nitrates, amines and silicates free.
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is a NSF1 registered product according to HT1 Classification:
“This product is acceptable for use as a heat transfer fluid where there is the possibility of incidental food contact (HT1).”
NON TOX FREEZE F protects all metals and alloys typically used in heat transfer systems and in particular steel, copper and aluminium used in food industries.
Thanks to its formulation, PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F provides excellent anti-oxidative, anti-corrosive, anti-cavitation properties that are essential to guarantee high protection of metals in the cooling system.
It guarantees maximum protection against foam formation, it does not cause rubber swelling and is compatible with plastic components of the system.
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is formulated with special corrosion inhibitors that protect surfaces from acid attacks that may originate after oxidation.
The presence of inhibitors means longer life of the water solution, reduction of costs and improvement of process efficiency.
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F thanks to its MonoPropylene Glycol base and the special selection of additives of the inhibitor package is highly compatible with metallic and non metallic parts generally present in cooling systems.
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is compatible with the most common elastomers used, i.e. ethylene-propylene-diene-rubber (EPDM), polyethylene (LDPE, HDPE), cross-linked polyethylene (VPE), polypropylene (PP), nitrile butadiene rubber (NBR), polybutene (PB), polyamides (PA), polyacetal (POM), natural rubber (NR), polyvinylchloride (PVC), polyester cross-linked (UP), styrene-butadiene-rubber (SBR), fluorocarbon rubber (FKM), polychlorobutadiene (CR), butyl rubber (IIR).
It can be mixed with common Propylene Glycol (PG) based coolants even though, in order not to reduce the special performance of the product, we recommend to use only PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F.
In case the kind of fluid is changed, we recommend to remove the previous coolant and flush out the system with water.
Mix with water
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is a concentrate product to be diluted with water before use.
We recommend to prepare water/fluid solution before filling the system using either distilled or demineralized water.
In case of diluition of PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F with not distilled/demineralized water, we recommend to use water with the following characteristics:
– hardness max. 2,8°dH
– chlorines content max. 50mg/l
– iron and copper content max. 0,5mg/l
– electrical conductivity max. 10µS/cm
– pH at 20°C within range 5-7.
In order to guarantee a good protection against corrosion, we recommend at least a 30% volume concentration of PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F.
In case of new systems, it is good practice to remove all the oily and protective residues that can be present in the system.
Depending on different volume dilution ratio of the product in water, it is possible to get different degrees of frost protection and boiling temperature at atmospheric pressure.

Toxicity and Biodegradability
Propylene Glycol is regarded by the FDA as GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) and complying with the regulation 21CFR184.1666.
German regulation classifies it as WGK0 “Not Hazard to Water”. The LD50 (oral, rat) is higher than 21.000mg/kg.
Biodegradability measured as BOD (Biological Oxygen Demand) method and is higher than 60%.
TOD (Total Oxygen Demand) and BOD ratio is 85% after 20 days.
Glassware corrosion test according to ASTM D 1384
This method evaluates the compatibility of PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F with metals and alloys typically used in cooling systems. During procedure metal specimen are kept immersed into a 33% solution in volume of PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F and corrosive water, obtained with 100 ppm of sulphated ion of chloride and of bicarbonate mixed with distilled water. Temperature is 88°C constant and test lasts 336 hours under agitation (by 100 ml/min air flux). The chart below shows typical values after three tests and the specification limits of PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F in comparison with ASTM D 3306 regulation limits.

Fields of application
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is ideal as heat transfer fluid and for chilling/freezing applications,
in particular for food industries that have wine-making, brewing, fruit juice systems, etc. and
in several other similar applications.
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is recommended in particular for all those applications where there
is the risk of incidental contact with food products and beverages in general.
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F offers maximum protection against frost and corrosion formation keeping these properties stable and unchanged also after several years in use.
It is however necessary to make sure that the concentration of the coolant and the Alkalinity Reserve in the system remain within acceptable values.
Furthermore, it can be sprayed to melt frozen condenses in the refrigeration tunnel.
PAKELO NON TOX FREEZE F is a heat transfer fluid and should not be used as neither food additive nor as a food additive vector.
It should be used according to the food industry GMP (Good Manufacturing Practices).
