FIA WEC 2015: Ferrari is back!
12th April 2015 – 6 hours of Silverstone. AF Corse team opened the new 2015 FIA World Endurance Championship with a rocking achievement. Every single Ferrari 458 Italia that run in the AF Corse team conquered the podium. Pakelo is proud to be technical partner of this amazing team that reaps so many victories. In GTE Pro category Bruni-Vilander experienced duo remarked its stubbornness and its technical skills one more time since the race revealed to be far from being an easy goal.
Qualifying tests didn’t work smoothly for Ferrari number 51. It gained only a fifth position, 0.73 seconds far from the first in class – the Aston Martin Vantage V8 di Nygaard-Sørensen-Thiim that got the pole scoring a best lap of 1’59’’861. It was a harsh start for Ferrari number 51 that blundered to the tail end very soon. However the winning champions managed a spectacular recovery. After one hour they were already attacking podium positions and after an interesting tête-à-tête with the team fellows Calado-Rigon they got the pole position till the end.
The performance of young duo Calado-Rigon was very good too. Starting from the 8th position in the grid their Ferrari number 71 managed to reach the second place, but finally lost it in favor of Lietz-Christensen’s Porsche 911 RSR winning the third place. AFCorse got a podium in the LMGTE AM category too. It was the first official race in the FIA WEC together for Francois Perrodo, Emmanuel Collard e Rui Aguas that got the silver medal with their Ferrari number 83.
This opening is very encouraging and it seems no mystery that this year AFCorse would try the big challenge of winning the title both in LMGTE PRO and LMGTE AM category.
Next chapter of FIA WEC 2015 (http://www.fiawec.com) would be at SPA Francorchamps the 2nd of May. Keep on following Pakelo blog and social channels to be updated with the previews and exclusive content. Stay strong, stay Pakelo.
