The challenge is still open!
AF Corse counts on Las Americas to establish the leadership in FIA WEC.
Nürburgring set mid-term race of FIA WEC. Last 28th-30th August AF Corse, the team we technically support and sponsor, faced the challenge with combative strength.
In GTE Pro category, Rigon-Calado finished in third spot in their Ferrari 458 Italia #71. In the GTE Am, Perrodo, Collard and Aguas took the chequered flag with the third place in Ferrari 458 Italia #83.
An electronic problem, in the first hour of the race, compromised the result of the GT world champions Bruni and Vilander. Ferrari 458 Italia #51 stopped suddenly while Gimmi was leading. The world champion was forced to pull off track, but did eventually manage to reach to the pits where his electronics problem was fixed. From then on Bruni and Toni Vilander did their best to pull back and in the end finished with a seventh place.
In the GT Driver Championship, Rigon and Calado are second with 72 points while Bruni and Vilander are in third position. In the GTE Am Drivers World Champion, Perrodo, Collard and Aguas are second with 82 points.
However Ferrari has the first position in the GT Manufactures World Champions (166 points) and AF Corse is first in the GTE Pro Team standing and second in the GTE Am. Next race will be 19th September in Texas at the Circuit of Las Americas. This challenge will be very important for the definition of the general ranking.
